Who We Are

Madeline Schmidt is the Founding Partner of Schmidt Law and a social media attorney with a background in music and entertainment law.

Madeline founded Schmidt Law to provide creators with proactive, high-level legal counsel focused on preventing costly contract mistakes, enforcing brand deal obligations, protecting intellectual property, and minimizing legal exposure as clients scale. Her approach is consultative and strategic, emphasizing early intervention, decisive negotiation, and outcomes that safeguard long-term income and brand equity.

Prior to starting the firm, she was an associate in the music group of a major law firm representing the industry’s leading artists and producers, from Grammy winners to up-and-coming talent. She also spent three years with a digital agency, advising on corporate legal matters and gaining firsthand insight into the business realities facing creators and talent teams. Before law school, Madeline built a successful media sales career, giving her a practical, revenue-driven understanding of dealmaking and brand partnerships.

In addition to her private practice, Madeline is committed to public service and advocacy. She serves as a pro bono attorney with the Legal Aid Society and supports organizations focused on victims’ rights, anti-domestic violence initiatives, and anti-human trafficking efforts throughout the United States.
